Air Miles

These past few weeks I've been all over the map... from Vancouver Island, to Los Angeles, to Florida, back to Los Angeles, then to Ixtapa, Ohhhh here comes an Los Angeles again, Vancouver Island, Vancouver pit stop, and now back in LA!!! I am building up those air miles ;-)

I have a few projects on the go as my travel plans can show. Last week I shot a great spread for Dana Lyseng, owner of Supernova Salon, for the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA's). I have to thank her for putting together a great team. Along with 5 great models was Sonia Leal-Serafim from They Rep on Makeup, Designer Nicolette who brought all custom clothes she made by hand, and myself on Photography. I wish I could show you an image, but even the snaps are too close to the look of the entry... so we'll have to wait until the competition has been judged.

I am preparing to go to Vanuatu in a few weeks for Sky's the Limit. This episode is all the way in the South Pacific and I hear it's 4-5 planes to get there!!! ... air miles.... lol. One segment of the show I am focusing on is collecting unused eye glasses and bringing them to the people of Vanuatu. They barley have electrical power, let alone Opticians and eye wear. I can only imagine the response of the people when they find the right pair of glasses for their deteriorating vision and can see again clearly for the first time in years! Although they mainly wear leafs and grass skirts, imagine being a mid 30's tailor and having to retire because you can't see the stitches...
Coming along on this ride will be 'The Doctors' of Wise Quacks - Dave Hepburn and Rob Sealey. Along with a group of other Victoria doctors, Dave has spent a year there back in the 90's offering his medical services to the people. We are all looking forward to seeing this magical place. I hear we'll be doing things like climbing an active volcano, snorkelling with turtles and attending the Joh Frum Festival.

On the Hollywood film set with Judy Moody and Producer Sarah Siegel-Magness

I had the pleasure of joining Sarah Siegel-Magness on her film set in Hollywood for a behind the scenes tour of the movie she was producing Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer (starring Heather Graham, Jordana Beatty, and Parris Mosteller). Sarah, who is well known for producing the american drama Precious, transitioned to the other side of story telling with this family friendly, comedy film.

It was exciting for myself and the crew of Sky's The Limit to see the size of the production. After the tour of the set and watching Sarah work, I had the opportunity to sit down with her and chat about her accomplishments, where she is headed in her career, and what she had to say about the movie industry. ... and of course, being a photographer, I couldn't help myself but to take a few shots of Sarah on set.

I big Thank You to Sarah for inviting us! She is not only a friend, extremely talented, but role model to women everywhere.

Gabourey Sidibe by Suzanne Teresa

This past summer, I experienced my first fourth of July in the Adirondacks, NY. Had an amazing few weeks relaxing by the lake, eating yummy food and hanging out with great friends. Amongst many shots, this is one of my favourites of Gabourey Sidibe, Oscar nominated for best actress in the movie Precious in 2009. I think her essence comes out in this shot, she's such a sweet and lovely woman... not to mention a talented actress.

This was shot at dusk by the boat house with the ambient light softly bouncing off the water. You can even see the reflection of the glowing sky and trees in the shimmer of her shirt.

Thanks Gabby, it was a pleasure to meet you!

Hair Shoot With Dana Lyseng and Suzanne Teresa

I'm happy to report that Dana Lyseng owner of Supernova Salon in North Vancouver made it to the final's for the 2012 Contessa's in Canadian Team, Master Colourist, and British Columbia Hairstylist. You can check out the images at Salon Magazine or on my website www.suzanneteresa.com.

Our concept was covering the models in clay and letting it dry and crack. Then blend the clay into a fresh, glamourous face. Sonia Leal-Serafim, from They Rep, did an amazing job on the makeup and clay. Thank you to the models and the team who pulled together to create some great images!

Me & the Green Men

TOTALLY bummed about the Canucks ending their season early last night, especially after hooking up with the Green Men. Had an AWESOME time at the game and though my first "focus" is ALWAYS going to be photography, it is still fun to be on the other side of the lens!
